What would the BUT Film Festival be without a few prizes.
Like previous years, we have awards to give away by our professional jury. The BUT Award for the best student-film, Short Movie and Feature film full length.
In addition, we started 'the Groundbreaker Award'. This award is given to a personality in the business that not only had a great influence on filmmaking, but we believe will continue to be a such a force.
Two years ago the first award went to Fred Vogel, describing winning the award as 'my Oscar'!'. Last year Remy Couture was at the receiving end. This years Award will go wholeheartedly to the American director Albert Pyun.
The award is a lifetime achievement award. Looking at the bulk of his work it's no surprise that a film maker like Albert Pyun deserves this award, through the years kept continuing to re-invent his Art. In his recent movies he showed that he kept on 'deflecting' the pressures of mainstream Hollywood at large, always follows his own inner true visions.
In the world of Pyun, the only people who's opinion he's really cares about are those of his fans. That's a vision that suits BUT exactly. Be there on Saturday the 7th of September. 8 P.M.!
