Sunday, the 8th of September we present a revival of the VHS tape. The VHS Night of Error is an initiative of Juul Barnard and Erik Katerborg. We are very happy to include this night in our BUT-Program!
During the Night of Error an hommage to action and karate adventures from the 80's video store. Shaky trailers full of carboard spacecrafts, ninjas coming from everywhere, samurai agenst with huge guns and of course personal introductions of video store owners who wish you a pleasant evening.
We will explore the weird movie techniques of Godfrey Ho. This director saw an opportunity to upgrade the oldfashioned Chinese and Fillipine action movies with a new hype: Ninjas! At the most illogical moments the throwing stars are flying everywhere. Duck!
Taekwondo master and philosopher Y.K. Kim had the same ambition as Godfrey Ho. His Martial-arts Rockbank has to compete with bycicle riding ninjas in 'The Miami Connection'. The dialogues that make you cringe are highly compensated by the synthesizer hits of Angelo Jannotti.
If you still managed to remain in your seat, try harder when you watch undercover samurai agent Joe Marshall. His battle against the Yakuza are hindered a great deal by his wig that keeps getting in the way. Or are we watching a different actor? You'll learn the answer by watching the trailer of 'Samurai Cop'.
After all that, you're still going to be flabbergasted by the many Rambo-, Mad Max and Terminator clones that have been released on VHS. And not in the least because of the logo-animations the labels put on the movies.
After the VHS mix of trailers and interesting facts about this 80's genre we continue with the main feature. But which one, we won't tell you yet! But it could be that our hero Fred Williamson will make an appearance...
Night of Error: Sunday, the 8th of September, Nieuwe Veste Breda, 6 P.M.
