RÁN is a Dutch Icelandic band, founded in 2008 when singer Nekron realised 15 years had past sins he left Icelandic grindcore band Extermination, enough time had passed, the time was right for a comeback participating again in the music-scene.

In Icelandic the word 'rán' means theft, Rán or Rån is also an Nordic seagoddess, maybe inspiration came from Akira Kurosawa's epic Shakespearian movie Ran?  But Ran (not Rán) in Icelandic means just the same as in English run, and running well that is what to do after an act of thieving.   Nevermind all that, a strong enigmatic bandname what else does a Dark Metal band desire for!

RÁN's musical essence is uncompromising powerful sonic violence with influences from all extrem forms of metal, focus of inspration is drawn from the hell and condemnation theme found so much in the 'possessed' dark metal, also the impact of classic 80ties hard rock, thrash riffs and guitar solos is undeniable.

RÁN explores the poetic concept of Rune magick and singer Nekron's Viking heritage. Flying like the Walkure over eternal  battlefields where they choose the fallen heroic souls for the journeys to the heavenly Valhalla.  As listener you earthly soul stands a chance to be devoured into this anti-christ Rock’n Roll inferno!
