Australia, 2011, 90 min, English language, no subtitlesWater resources in Australia are starting to run dry, but the government has a solution. This solution is located in a concealed water reservoir, deep in the abandoned subway tunnels underneath the city. But suddenly there is no more news about these reserves, and it seems to have turned into a forbidden subject. Is the government trying to hide something? A TV crew goes out to investigate and breaks into the tunnels. Once inside, something appears to be not quite right and slowly they start to discover why the government was so desperate to keep this reservoir hidden. There’s something in these tunnels that doesn’t belong there.‘The Tunnel’ is a mockumentary, just like The Blair Witch Project. This comparison is not fair on ‘The Tunnel’ though, because this film proves that a mockumentary can be genuinely frightening and full of proper scares. Bear in mind that this film was made by fans for fans. The entire budget of the film consisted of internet donations.
